OREANDA-NEWS This year, the government will allocate at least 500 million rubles for the promotion of Russian brands. Primarily the funds will be spent on television advertising. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov as part of the Russian Retail Week forum, TASS reports.

According to his words, brands with Russian names, as practice shows, are sold worse than foreign ones. Therefore, Russians need to be persuaded in one way or another to switch to domestic products. This is why the Government decided to start with advertising. The minister assured that the corresponding normative act will be adopted in the near future.

"A fundamental decision was made: we agreed and determined the amount of funds that will be allocated in a pilot mode for this event", he concluded.

After the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, dozens of popular brands and international corporations left Russia. Some of them have sold their Russian business, others are under negotiation.

In particular, the McDonald's fast food restaurant chain and the French automaker Renault completely left Russia. Currently, the former McDonald's is preparing to open under a new name, which has not been advertised yet, and the car factory in Moscow intends to switch to the production of Moskvich cars.
