OREANDA-NEWS. According to the TASS agency, tests of ceramic armor for Russian military equipment should end in early 2021. The head of the Tekhnodinamika holding Igor Nasenkov spoke about this.

He also explained that the new protective material is lighter and stronger than traditional armor: it is able to withstand hits from artillery and tank weapons.
The principally new ceramic armor made of aluminum oxide is being developed by the Ufa Aggregate Production Association.

Today, plates for body armor or protective panels for military equipment are made from ceramics based on boron carbide, silicon carbide or aluminum oxide. They are quite expensive, but they can withstand the hit of an armor-piercing incendiary bullet from a Dragunov sniper rifle.

Meanwhile, not only will the appearance of the tanks look new, their design and constructive features will also be different. In this case, we are talking about the T-14 "Armata" tanks, which is the only tank of the third post-war generation in the world. Its main feature is an uninhabited tower, the crew is in an armored capsule. The "Armata" active protection systems are capable of destroying or deflecting any missile and projectile.
