OREANDA-NEWSThe planned capacities of the Taman dry cargo port project in the Krasnodar Territory, which RMP-Taman is planning to implement, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport, will be reduced by more than four times, to 15 million tons. Two sources close to potential project investors told the Russian media about it and confirmed federal official.

The latest version of the Taman state port project includes only two terminals - for 9 million tons of metal cargo (Metalloinvest Alisher Usmanov and partners) and 6 million tons of grain (Efko Group of Companies), for a total of 15 million tons. This is 4.5 times less than expected in the previous version of the project.

The creation of a dry cargo port in Taman was discussed for several years. In September 2013, it became known that the territory of the existing Taman port would be expanded to implement the project. The Stroygazmontazh company Arkady Rotenberg was planning to become a port construction contractor, which was building the Crimean bridge nearby. But, fearing another postponement, the contractor said that he was ready to wait for the government’s decision only until the end of the second quarter of 2019. A representative of Rotenberg told the Russian media that the businessman has no plans to build this port.
