OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Austrian Ministry of Health, Rudolf Anschober, speaking about the possible registration of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in the EU, said that he would be happy with any vaccine that successfully passed the examination of the European Medical Agency (EMA), and the place of production of the drug does not matter.

Earlier, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that the EMA will need to consider applications for registration in the EU of Russian and Chinese vaccines against coronavirus, and there should be no "geopolitical taboos" in this matter.

The head of the Austrian Ministry of Health said that he personally does not care what the name of the vaccine is, the place of production and creation. Everything always depends on the quality, which is checked by the EMA in Europe. This means that vaccines have to go through some testing. And the Minister of Health will be happy with any vaccine that passes this test, because he will know that it is a great vaccine. Anschober shared such an opinion on the possible registration of the Russian vaccine in the EU at a press conference, answering the question whether Austria would support the application for registration of Sputnik V.

He added that while the issue of registration of the Russian vaccine is being resolved, Austria expects the approval of the vaccine from Johnson & Johnson in the near future.
