OREANDA-NEWS. The European Union is preparing a new accusation against Apple in an antitrust case. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing its own sources. The cause of the lawsuit may be the limitation of Apple Pay by the American corporation.

The publication writes that Apple can be accused of deliberately limiting the functionality of the NFC module, which is used for contactless payments. Right now on the iPhone, only the proprietary Apple Pay app has access to it. Thus, users do not have the opportunity to choose an alternative service.

From the note of the Financial Times it also follows that, as a result of the case, Apple could face a huge fine in the amount of 10% of the company's revenue worldwide.

At the moment, it is not known exactly when the European Union will indict the American corporation. However, according to the publication, this could happen as early as next week.

Earlier it became known about Apple's plans to equip the iPhone 14 with an unusually shaped screen.

A photo of the front panels of the iPhone 14 line of smartphones was published by Weibo, according to the 9to5mac portal. From the published picture, it can be seen that older models will receive a different aspect ratio of the screen.

It is noted that current Apple smartphones are made in a ratio of 19.5: 9, while the iPhone 14 will receive a more elongated body and a display with a ratio of 20: 9. Earlier 9to5mac leaks about the iPhone 14 reported that smartphones will have the same display resolution as the current iPhone 13, however, the display on the flagship iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may be more elongated. This decision of Apple engineers may be caused by replacing the “bangs” with a cutout in the screen.

The iPhone 14 line is expected to include four smartphones - 14, 14 Max, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. According to numerous insiders, Apple will abandon the production of the iPhone mini. New products should be presented in the fall of 2022.
