Karis recalled that analysts agreed that the coming food crisis could be the worst in 70 years. Now in Ukraine there are about 20 million metric tons of grain in silos, the Estonian leader recalled.

“It is impossible to transport this amount to the world market by rail - there is simply too much of it. Western countries should establish a military presence in a part of the Black Sea to ensure the safe movement of merchant and humanitarian ships,” Karis concluded.
