OREANDA-NEWS. The KoviVac vaccine has ended again in Moscow, medical institutions are waiting for a new supply from the Ministry of Health, according to the website of the mayor and the government of the capital.

This drug is inoculated in five children's city polyclinics No. 99, branch 4, No. 94, No. 143, No. 7 and No. 2. For some time this option was not available for residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg, but then the vaccine stocks were replenished.

The authorities noted that it is necessary to sign up for the procedure in advance.

The KoviVac vaccine, developed by the Chumakov Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was registered in February. In June, the third phase of clinical trials began, in which 32 thousand volunteers participate. It will end in 2022.

The drug belongs to the class of inactivated vaccines, based on which the "killed" - which has lost the ability to infect cells - is the whole SARS-CoV-2 virus. According to the head of the general virology department of the Chumakov Center, Georgy Ignatiev, after the injection, the vaccinated immune system forms a response to all structural proteins of the coronavirus, and not only to the S-protein, as in vector-type vaccines.

The developers claim that the vaccine gives a pronounced and wide range of antibodies, but experts note that not all of them can be neutralizing.

A similar platform is used in two Chinese vaccines, Sinovac and Sinopharm.
