OREANDA-NEWS. The new-generation LADA Niva SUV, which is expected to be released in 2024, will receive a record-breaking ground clearance (240 mm) and a turbocharged engine. This is reported by «Autorevue» with reference to it's own sources from AVTOVAZ Company.

According to official data, the new LADA Niva (the successor to the LADA 4×4) will be built on the advanced CMF-B modular platform from Renault-Nissan with a transverse engine arrangement. At the same time, the model will retain the «solid construction» and two versions – with a standard and extended wheelbase. Known, that the iconic «VAZ» SUV will also significantly grow in size. According to insiders, the standard next-generation LADA Niva will have a length of 4280 millimeters and a wheelbase of 2600 millimeters, which is comparable to the current LADA 4×4 (Niva Legend) in a five-door body.

All-wheel drive will remain uncontested, and the standard, «asphalt» version will be responsible for connecting the rear axle with a conventional electromagnetic clutch, and the Niva Off-road, prepared for offroad driving, will have a gearbox with two on-board friction packages. The downshift is also expected to be.

As for the engines, a revolution is being planned here. In particular, instead of the outdated 83-horsepower «atmospheric» 1.8, two new engines will appear at once for the «Niva»: the atmospheric 1.8 unit from LADA Vesta (most likely the modified version) and the turbocharged 1.3 engine from Daimler, which today is equipped with the Renault Arkana and the most affordable models of Mercedes-Benz. The first engine will be combined with a six-speed Renault «mechanics» or a Jatco CVT, and the second-only with a CVT.
