OREANDA-NEWS. Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Green, commenting on the investigation into the January 6, 2021 protests when protesters took over the Capitol, compared the police to the gazpacho instead of the Gestapo. Her statement was made during an interview with One America News. A fragment of the interview on February 10 was published on Twitter.

Green began by calling the Washington prison a D.C. gulag, and then accused Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi of spying on her and her fellow party members. Speaking about Pelosi's actions, the congresswoman called them the gazpacho police, confusing the police of Nazi Germany with a popular dish of Spanish cuisine.

Twitter users joked that this is why interviews should not be given on an empty stomach.

Green's interview was commented on by Russian TV journalist Vladimir Solovyov.

“Not only has DC become a prison, a Gulag! So Nancy also sent her gazpacho police to spy on members of Congress and our work, on our guests and citizens of America, ”the Vesti TV channel host was quoted as saying.

Earlier, on January 28, it was reported that 14 suspects were called to testify at protests in the United States last winter, who acted as so-called alternative electors in support of former President Donald Trump. In December, a congressional committee investigating the storming of the Capitol demanded data on telephone conversations of more than 100 people, including from the circle of the former head of the White House.

On January 7, 2021, the US Congress approved the election of Democrat Joe Biden as President of the United States. The procedure took place against the backdrop of unrest in Washington. The day before, Trump supporters staged a rally, after which they broke into the Capitol building, which disrupted the approval of the results of the presidential election held in November. Five people were killed, including one policeman.
