OREANDA-NEWS. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell arrived in Ukraine, he will visit Stanytsia Luhanska and Kiev. The diplomat wrote about this on his Twitter page.

“With Russia's growing military power, I am here to demonstrate EU support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and to support sustained reform efforts,” Borrell wrote.

It is assumed that the European diplomat and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba will visit the contact line in the Luhansk region, hold talks, including discussing the "containment" of Russia and the imposition of sanctions against it. Also, diplomats will talk to media representatives.

The purpose of Borrell's visit is a trip to demonstrate the unconditional and active support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine by Europe. The European Commission is deeply convinced that Ukraine is threatened by "the build-up of Russian military power near its borders and the threatening actions of the Russian Federation."

Borrell's company on his trip will be made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.

First, the head of EU diplomacy is going to go to the east of Ukraine and personally come to the "contact line". After that, EU officials will travel to Kiev, where they will have meetings with the country's leadership.

Earlier, Borrell revealed the sum of the financial support which Ukraine got from the European Union since 2014. He told in an interview with the Polish Press Agency that EU has sent € 17 billion to Ukraine in total since 2014.
