OREANDA-NEWS. In April–June 2020, Google blocked over 2,500 YouTube channels linked to China, Russia and Iran as part of its fight against disinformation. This was reported by RIA Novosti news agency with reference to the data of the American corporation.

It is noted that during the mentioned period, 2,596 channels related to China were deactivated. Most of them, according to Google, published spam and non-political content; there were also political materials, videos about the fight against coronavirus in the United States and protests against racial discrimination.

From April to June, about 90 English and Russian-language channels associated with Russia were blocked also. They provided information about the European Union, the United States, Ukraine, and Lithuania. Among the blocked channels were those that spoke in Russian, German and Farsi about Russia, Syria and the response of the USA to COVID-19 pandemic, as well as about the domestic policy of the Russian Federation and international issues.

Besides, Google blocked about 20 channels related to Iran.
