OREANDA-NEWS. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, said that buying up networks for gigantic money, when one owner is replaced by another, will not lead to changes, since not only the owners now determine the rules of their life. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

According to the politician, no network is able to ignore the mood in the state, which is the place of its registration. In this regard, "no miraculous transformation" with Twitter will not work, Medvedev believes.

“It will not become democratic again, much less fair,” stressed the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

He also joked that this could happen if the service leaves American jurisdiction.

Earlier, Twitter announced that Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, will soon become its new official owner. He acquires the service for $44 billion.  Following the completion of the transaction, Twitter will become a private company.

Twitter, Inc. today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by a wholly owned Elon Musk company for $54.2 per share, a deal valued at approximately $44 billion.

Earlier it was reported, citing The Wall Street Journal, that Musk's $43 billion offer was discussed by 24 parties, but "issues remained unresolved." At the same time, Bloomberg assumed that Twitter could accept Musk's offer on April 25, and the WSJ named April 28.
