OREANDA-NEWS. Deputy head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel that the Ukrainian authorities “want to extract evidence” from the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk, who was detained by the SBU the day before.

“These figures should carefully look around and firmly lock the doors at night so as not to be among the people being exchanged,” Medvedev wrote.

In Ukraine, Medvedchuk is suspected of treason and embezzlement of national resources in Crimea, as well as in the supply of coal from the territories of Donbass in late 2014 - early 2015 in the amount of more than 200 million hryvnia (about $ 7.6 million). He was under house arrest. At the end of February, it became known that he had fled.

The day before, he was detained, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky offered to exchange Medvedchuk for Ukrainian prisoners of war. He stressed the importance of law enforcement and military countries to also consider this possibility.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova recalled that earlier the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine said about the deputy of the Rada Medvedchuk that "it would be right to do two things: at least for him to give certain evidence."
