OREANDA-NEWS. The American IT corporation Microsoft will resume negotiations with the Chinese company ByteDance on the purchase of the application TikTok.

According to a statement published on the Microsoft website, the decision to continue talks was made after a conversation between Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and US President Donald Trump. “Microsoft will move quickly to pursue discussions with TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, in a matter of weeks, and in any event completing these discussions no later than September 15, 2020,” the message reads. During the negotiation process, the corporation expects to continue the dialogue with the US government and the president, Microsoft leadership added.

The statement emphasizes that the operating model of the service TikTok will provide “transparency to users” and that all personal data of Americans will be stored only in the territory of the United States.

In the beginning of July, US State Secretary Mike Pompeo announced the possibility of blocking TikTok in the country.
