OREANDA-NEWS Twitter and Facebook users have been reporting problems with access to social networks in Russia since the early morning of February 28 — sites do not open or load very slowly. This information is confirmed by the data of Downdetector and NetBlocks. Experts believe that many Internet service providers in Russia have decided to restrict communication with the content servers of social networks.

Twitter users have reported failures before - judging by the Downdetector schedule, there were fewer calls on February 28 than on the 27th. Problems with Facebook were reported more often today than on February 27.

Residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don and other major cities told about the interruptions. Some complained about difficulties with access to Instagram.

"NetBlocks indicators confirm the restriction of Twitter in Russia since the morning of Saturday, February 26, 2022. Facebook's servers have been restricted since Sunday. Restrictions apply to several providers, which makes both social media platforms largely unusable," according to the NetBlocks website, which monitors blockages.

Earlier, Facebook banned Russian state media from showing ads and monetization. He also continued to mark the publications of such media.
