OREANDA-NEWSThe volume of the Russian telecommunications market in 2019 increased by 2.1%, compared with the previous year, and amounted to 1.73 trillion rubles. These growth rates are lower than in the previous two years, according to a study by TMT Consulting.

According to the report, in the previous two years, the Russian telecommunications market grew at a rate of 3.3% (in 2018) and 2.7% (in 2017). Experts attribute the decline in dynamics primarily to the slowdown in the mobile market. Forming 57% of all telecommunications revenues, it is this market that determines the dynamics of the industry. Other negative factors were the slowdown in the fast-growing pay TV market, and the steadily high rate of decline in revenues in the fixed-line telephony and inter-operator services markets.

Analysts say that in 2019 the mobile communications segment grew by 4.9%, the subscriber base increased by 1.7% and amounted to 260 million. According to experts, the efforts of operators to increase subscriber profitability in the mobile communications market were partially leveled out, including price, competition, as well as the introduction of unlimited tariffs by operators. The average market ARPU (average revenue per user) in 2019 increased by 2.6%, to 321 rubles. Moreover, for the third quarter, this indicator for Beeline and MTS is estimated by experts at 353 rubles, for Megafon - 308 rubles.
