OREANDA-NEWS.Samsung in the second quarter of 2019 became the leader in the supply of smartphones to the Russian market in the second quarter of 2019, Huawei took second place. This is stated in the report of the research company International Data Corporation (IDC). Samsung shipped more than 2.5 million devices in the second quarter of 2019. According to IDC, the brand was helped by sales of A-series devices, covering the lower and middle price ranges. The entire line as a whole was sold successfully: from the budget A10 to A50 of the mid-price range, sales of the more expensive A70 were slightly lower.

The report notes that Huawei, the leader in the Russian market in the first quarter, suffered in the second quarter due to consumer concerns about the future level of Android support on its smartphones. "The rapid growth in vendor shipments to Russia over the past quarter has slowed down to 2.1 million devices. Although this result is higher than in the second quarter of 2018, it is 15.1% lower than the level of shipments in the first quarter of 2019", added to IDC.

At the same time, while in Russia Huawei supplies fell by 15.1%, then across Europe as a whole, where consumers usually use more Western applications for Android than in Russia, shipments fell by more than 22.4%. Huawei subsequently began to work on its Honor brand together with MTS to guarantee a refund if support for Android applications is compromised, but this program was launched after the second quarter.

In general, in the second quarter, 7.315 million smartphones were delivered to the Russian market, which is 3.7% higher compared to the same quarter last year. The market size in monetary terms amounted to $ 1.633 billion, decreasing by 4% year on year, despite the appreciation of the ruble against the dollar and euro in the first half of 2019.
