OREANDA-NEWS. The Ukrainian Security Service said it blocked the broadcast of banned Russian TV channels and TV channels of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics on the territory of the Luhansk region controlled by Kiev.

As stated in the message of the press service of the SBU in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions on Facebook, an entrepreneur from Severodonetsk provided the population of several cities in the region with services to unblock television channels banned in our country. Using special hardware and software, the attacker sold packages of unblocked Ukrainian paid channels and other countries to customers. The proposed packages included propaganda TV channels of the Russian Federation, on which Ukraine imposed sanctions, as well as some anti-Ukrainian channels.

According to the press service, law enforcement officers found out that most of the citizens did not even know that they were buying a package with sanctioned channels. But some of the clients turned to the man precisely in order to get access to these TV channels.

According to the current legislation, an offender can receive a prison term of up to 15 years for such actions. In fact, Ukraine has restricted the work of Russian media in the country in various ways. Since 2015, the accreditation of 115 Russian media outlets with the state authorities of Ukraine has been suspended. Also in Ukraine, broadcasting of the main Russian TV channels is prohibited.
