OREANDA-NEWS. A number of documents were signed today in Moscow with the purpose of advancing Russian-Uzbek cooperation in the gas sector. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, and Shavkat Mirziyoev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Gulomzhon Ibragimov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, inked a contract for Uzbek gas to be purchased by Gazprom. The document provides for 4 billion cubic meters of gas per year to be procured in the period of up to 5 years starting from 2018.

Alexey Miller and Alisher Sultanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Uzbekneftegaz, signed the Agreement on joint geological exploration and engineering & innovation work. Pursuant to the document, the parties will explore new perspective blocks within Uzbekistan and analyze the opportunities for cooperation in the field of engineering.

The heads of the companies also inked the Agreement of Cooperation in the area of staff training and retraining.

"Today, we have signed with our Uzbek partners a number of important documents, among which is the first medium-term contract for Uzbek gas to be purchased by Gazprom. Russian-Uzbek cooperation in the gas sector is thriving and expanding to new areas," said Alexey Miller.
