OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2016.  GE Renewable Energy (GE) announced that an agreement was signed with T?rkerler Holding, an Ankara-based wind energy investor, to supply a total of 50 MW of wind energy capacity at the Tire Wind Farm in Izmir. In the scope of the agreement, GE will supply and install nine of GE’s 3.2-103 wind turbines and 13 of its 1.7-103 model for the project. GE will also provide maintenance services for equipment for 10 years.

The strong collaboration between GE and T?rkerler Holding at the Tire Wind Farm will contribute to the Turkish government’s goals of reaching 20 gigawatts (GW) of wind power and 30 percent of primary energy supplied from renewable sources by the year 2023.

Kaz?m T?rker, Chairman of the Board, Turkerler Holding said, "We have strengthened our collaboration with GE through our new agreement for the Tire Wind Farm after our Barbaros and Kalfak?y Wind Farm projects. With GE’s turbines, T?rkerler Holding’s installed base in wind energy generation will reach to 72 MW in total. We are proud to provide Turkey with more renewable energy through our collaboration.”

The Tire Wind Farm will utilize a combination of GE technologies to adapt to a variety of different wind regimes across the site. GE’s 3.2-103 model on an 85-meter hub height will harness medium to strong wind conditions, and its 1.7-103 model at an 80-meter hub height will support lower wind speed areas.

The Turkish Wind Energy Association (T?REB) states that Turkey's installed wind power capacity has reached 5,146 MW, based on its statistical wind report released in July 2016. According to the report, the Aegean Region is home to most of the wind power plants in operation. 37.5 percent of the installed wind power across all of Turkey is located in the Aegean Region, incorporating T?rkerler Holding's wind plant powered by GE turbines.
