OREANDA-NEWS. Specialists of IDGC of Centre – Kostromaenergo division in the framework of the preparation for the winter participated in large-scale exercises that took place in the Kostroma region. Together with representatives of regional and local authorities, the regional department of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, other energy enterprises and organizations operating in the region, they worked out actions to eliminate massive power outages caused by unfavourable weather conditions.

According to the scenario of the exercises, on the night of 26-27 December 2017, weather conditions in the region deteriorated sharply, the air temperature rose to an anomalous indicator of 0 degrees. Hurricane winds with gusts up to 25-28 m/s and wet snow came to the region. In the period from 11:00 to 14:00 on 27 December in several districts there were massive power outages. Totally, 25 high-voltage lines of 6-10 kV and 289 transformer substations were de-energized in the region.

The power engineers reacted quickly to the situation. It was immediately taken under the control of IDGC of Centre’s headquarters and the headquarters for ensuring the security of power supply in the Kostroma region. In Kostromaenergo a special mode of work was introduced, providing for mobilization of forces and means for rapid restoration of electricity supply to consumers. The specialists of the production safety and industrial control department checked the availability of all necessary tools, devices and specialized vehicles with emergency response crews, after which they started to work.

20 emergency response and repair crews of Kostromaenergo with specialized vehicles, as well as specialists from two contract organizations and other companies participating in the exercises (the branch of SO UES Kostroma Regional Dispatch Office, the branch of PJSC FGC UES Vologda PMES, the branch "Kostromskaya GRES" of JSC "Inter RAO - Electric Power Generation"). First of all, socially important facilities of the region were fed, for which 7 mobile reserve power supplies were used.
