OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Nuclear Energy Industry Innovative Products and Technologies Fair in Singapore showcased technological advancements based on more than 70 years of experience and created with the joint effort of more than 400 enterprises of ROSATOM.

At the fair ROSATOM presented its products and technologies in such areas as healthcare (full range of products for nuclear medicine, diagnostics and treatment), sustainable energy (technologies to reduce the environmental impact of the conventional power plants), food safety and shelf life extension (multifunctional irradiation centres), advanced composite materials, as well as lifecycle management solutions for engineering facilities.

“Nuclear power industry is not just about energy, it provides cutting-edge technologies to take on the most critical challenges of our times, such as cancer treatment, food safety, and environment protection”, said Egor Simonov, Vice President of ROSATOM International Network for Southeast Asia and Director of ROSATOM Asia.

According to him, ROSATOM spends around 4.5% of its total annual revenue on R&D activities, and the strong scientific and industrial capacities allow the State Corporation to offer innovative solutions in various spheres.

For example, ROSATOM offers mini-hydro power plants: these 2MW modular power units can provide industrial or residential electricity supply in remote locations with low access to electricity, which makes them a viable solution for Asia’s rural areas.

Another challenge targeted by the State Corporation is the issue of ash and slag materials. These polluting substances are accumulated on many of Asian coal-fired power plants. ROSATOM offers technologies that turn these waste materials into valuable products for construction and other industries.
