The event called "A.N. Lodygin and Tambov Territory" was held on the site of Tambov Regional State Budget Educational Institution of Culture "Scientific and Methodological Centre of Folk Art and Leisure" under the Department of Culture and Archives of the Tambov Region.
The meeting of the club was opened by representatives of Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin. They talked about how domestic science developed in the XIX century. Participants of the meeting were presented a documentary film "Russian Prometheus", dedicated to Alexander Lodygin, created by the "New Century" TV company on the initiative of the Tambov branch of IDGC of Centre.
Tambovenergo’s employees told us about the work they do to preserve the memory of the great inventor. In particular, on the initiative of the power engineers, in 2009 a memorable sign was installed in the small Motherland of the scientist in the village of Stenshino in Petrovsky district of the Tambov region. This year, as part of IDGC of Centre’s "Green Distribution Zone" project, the enterprise’s employees carried out work on the improvement of the territory there.
By the memorable date the power engineers prepared a series of publications in federal and regional print media, as well as a series of lectures and seminars for schoolchildren and students telling about the life and work of Alexander Lodygin and his contribution to the development of Russia’s energy industry. And in early November in Tambovenergo an exhibition "The Bright Life of Alexander Lodygin" was opened, dedicated to the inventor.
The plans of Tambovenergo’s employees include participation in other commemorative events, organized both by the branch and by scientific and public organizations of the region.
