OREANDA-NEWS. Russian corporation Gazprom reported in a statement published on the corporate information disclosure center’s website that at the request of the company Naftogaz of Ukraine, Gazprom’s assets in England, Wales, the Netherlands and Luxembourg were removed from arrests and security measures.

Gazprom’s assets were seized on the basis of an arbitration decision of February 28, 2018. The Netherlands notified the company that their arrests were canceled on January 10, Luxembourg on January 11, England and Wales on January 14. The seizure of assets was part of a Russian company’s trial with Naftogaz over a gas transit contract.

In January last year, the head of Naftogaz Andriy Kobolyev announced that the Russian oil company had “tens of billions of dollars worth property abroad”. According to him, at that time Ukraine was able to seize property in an amount exceeding Gazprom’s debt in the UK, the Netherlands and Switzerland. In addition, Kiev demanded the seizure of Gazprom’s assets in Latvia.
