OREANDA-NEWS. A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Zhang Gaoli, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, took place in Sochi.

The parties noted the enhancement of the bilateral cooperation in the gas sector. Particular attention was given to the course of negotiations on planned Russian gas supplies to China via the western route, as well as gas supplies from the Russian Far East, underground gas storage and power generation issues. The Power of Siberia project is advancing in strict compliance with the schedule.

Alexey Miller and Zhang Gaoli visited the Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex built by Gazprom. The Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC was shown around the facility on the eve of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. Laura successfully hosted the biathlon and cross-country skiing competitions during the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2014, as well as other major Russian and international competitions.

CNPC is China's state-owned oil and gas company and one of the world's leading integrated energy companies.

On May 21, 2014, Gazprom and CNPC signed the Sales and Purchase Agreement for gas to be supplied via the eastern route (Power of Siberia gas pipeline). The 30-year Agreement provides for Russian gas deliveries to China in the amount of 38 billion cubic meters per year.

On May 8, 2015, Gazprom and CNPC inked the Heads of Agreement for pipeline deliveries of natural gas from Russia to China via the western route (Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline). At the initial stage, 30 billion cubic meters of gas is planned to be annually delivered from Western Siberian fields.

The Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex is located nearby Krasnaya Polyana. It is one of the most up-to-date facilities of its kind worldwide situated in the medium-height mountains at an altitude of 1,430 to 1,600 meters above sea level. The complex includes a four-kilometer biathlon track, two five-kilometer tracks for cross-country skiing and training tracks. The biathlon and ski stadiums together with the viewing platforms along the tracks accommodate about ten thousand spectators.
