OREANDA-NEWS. INEOS Shale will be hosting a stand at The Royal Cheshire County Show in Knutsford, today and Wednesday. INEOS are attending the summertime agricultural event as part of their commitment to provide transparent and effective two-way communication with local communities.

The show, which has previously attracted over 80,000 visitors, will offer INEOS the opportunity to address any concerns the local communities or farmers may hold about shale gas extraction in the rural areas of Cheshire.

INEOS Shale believes a UK Shale Gas industry will help the North West create more jobs, generate more taxes and support its existing manufacturing base, including is Runcorn site.

INEOS Shale, Operations Director, Tom Pickering says: “We are delighted to be attending The Royal Cheshire County Show. It will give us a chance to speak directly to the people of Cheshire. We believe that shale gas can be produced safely and could create thousands of jobs and bring substantial economic benefits to the area.”

The company recently started a community engagement programme by holding meetings with local councillors from across the county. Attending the Royal Cheshire County show is part of the next phase of the programme, which will include meeting with the general public.

The Royal Cheshire County Show is being held at Clay House Farm, Knutsford, on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd June 2016. The show is over 175 years old, and is the premier summertime agricultural event in the North West of England.
