OREANDA-NEWS. GE (NYSE: GE) will showcase its energy neutral and water reuse technologies, products and services for the global water industry at Singapore International Water Week (SIWW), taking place July 10-14 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.Today at SIWW, GE and PUB, Singapore’s national water agency, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore ways of technological cooperation, research and development, applied research and training as well as project collaboration over the next five years. Common areas of interest for collaboration between GE and PUB include water treatment processes, such as reverse electrodialysis and anaerobic membrane reactors, and industrial water processes, such as water recycling.

Heiner Markhoff, president and CEO—water and distributed power for GE Power, will be a panelist at SIWW's Industrial Water Solutions Forum on July 13 at 1:30 p.m. The “Water and the Bottom Line” panel will address how industrial water end users and solution providers are coming together to optimize existing infrastructure and assets to increase production and lower costs.

Highlights of GE’s technology portfolio that will be on display at booth #B2-F 25 include:

ZeeLung* Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR)—Four times more energy efficient than conventional aeration systems , ZeeLung MABR technology is a simple solution that allows municipalities to achieve nutrient removal and/or capacity expansion in existing tank volumes while significantly reducing energy consumption. ZeeLung cassettes are immersed in existing bioreactors to improve treatment performance and/or increase treatment capacity without the need to expand the footprint of the facilities.

ZeeWeed*—GE’s ultrafiltration hollow-fiber membranes are designed with a robust life expectancy giving customers confidence in their water treatment system’s operation and helping comply with regulatory requirements. ZeeWeed membranes are utilized for drinking water, wastewater, tertiary and water reuse applications as well as industrial feedwater and reverse osmosis pretreatment. The advanced technology is operational in thousands of municipal, industrial and commercial applications worldwide.

ZeeBlok* provides advanced membrane manufacturing techniques to create small building blocks. These building blocks, or ZeeBlok modules, allow quick, flexible module assembly in a number of configurations while maintaining outstanding product performance and quality.

AD technology is designed to recycle biosolids and biowaste into methane and valuable byproducts. GE’s Monsal* Advanced Digestion technologies use bacteria in the absence of oxygen to break down matter to create biogas. The biogas can be combusted or oxidized and used for heating or with a gas engine to produce electricity and heat. It also can be compressed and used as fuel for vehicles or as a fertilizer.

Digestion products—From mixing systems to heat exchanges to sludge treatment, GE’s digestion products work in concert to provide a holistic solution that takes anaerobic treatment to a new level. GE’s digestion products achieve optimal energy balance to maximize system yield and performance.

Jenbacher* gas engines achieve efficient energy conversion for converting biogas into power and heat.

GE’s Singapore Water Technology Center at NUS—Since its launch in 2009, the Singapore Water Technology Center, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board, has become an important part of GE's global technology organization by supporting the development of advanced technologies to help solve some of the world's most pressing water challenges. The center has helped expedite fundamental research and industry innovation in water treatment while also strengthening government collaborations in Singapore and around the world.
