OREANDA-NEWS. High-Voltage Transformers (PMTT) has manufactured and tested the first 500 kV autotransformer with a capacity of 267 MVA of the four autotransformers to be delivered for the modernization of Volzhskaya HPP by RusHydro.

Currently, the equipment is shipped to the customer. Also, the second transformer is under testing, and manufacture of the other two transformers for this HPP is nearly completed.

Progressively as the equipment will be installed the PMTT specialists will supervise the installation of the transformers at the site and train the customer's personnel.

The delivery of the equipment for Volzhskaya HPP is scheduled to be completed in the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Taking into consideration high voltage rating of the transformers, special requirements were used for their design and manufacture, including requirements for the cleanliness of the production premises. The transformers manufactured for Volzhskaya HPP are equipped with a most sophisticated monitoring system capable of analyzing gas and moisture content and of measuring partial discharges. All of the above guarantees a long service life of the equipment for at least 30 years.

The PMTT delivery is part of the Power Machines’ scope of engagement in a large-scale project on Volzhskaya HPP modernization implemented by RusHydro since 2011.
