OREANDA-NEWS. Chain drives PC-30, manufactured by the Bugulma Mechanical Plant (BMZ) of TATNEFT Company, proved to be efficient in the operation of marginal wells.

PC-30 product manufactured by BMZ became the winner of the "Best goods and services of the Republic of Tatarstan" contest in the category "Industrial and Technical Products".

The results of PC-30 implementation in the oil fields of the Company have demonstrated significant savings in operating costs. Application of low-cost chain drives of the sucker rod pumping units significantly reduces the cost of oil production at the artificial lift   wells.

The operation principle of a downhole sucker rod pump chain drive is based on converting the rotational motion of the electric motor into reciprocating one. The drive is intended for actuation of a downhole sucker-rod pump during the product lifting process, while ensuring a favorable mode of rods motion (uniform velocity at the greater part of the stroke) as well as reducing drag forces in the downhole wellbore setting of the sucker rod pump.

BMZ is continuously working on designing new models of chain drives and their improvement. The PC-30 is a simplified model with a stroke length of 3m and a maximum 3 tons load at the rod hanger center.

The PC-30 model is 4 tons lighter and cheaper by one-half than PC60. This was achieved through   modernization of all the components and assemblies: the electric motor 5.5 kW was replaced by a 3 kW motor installed; a special three-stage gearbox was replaced by a two-step general industrial spur-gear speed reducer. The imported double-row chains were replaced by domestically produced single-strand chains. Also the composition of the supporting structures was changed and attachments were removed. Moreover, thanks to the   modernization, the sucker rod pump drive allows reducing the costs per tonne of crude oil produced by more than 30%.
