OREANDA-NEWS. German media report that at present, the construction of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 is not underway due to spawning of cod. The ban was introduced by the Danish authorities until September.

According to the media, before the cod spawning, the construction work was complicated by another factor: 120 kilometers of the pipeline is to be laid through Danish territorial waters southeast of the island of Bornholm. After the Second World War in this area, thousands of tons of ammunition filled with poisonous gases were dumped. Therefore, a special permit was required for anchoring vessels in these waters. The permit was obtained on July 6.

The media also draws attention to the fact that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo came to Copenhagen. He is supposed to discuss the construction of Nord Stream 2, but there is still no official information on the results of the negotiations.
