OREANDA-NEWS. Bulgaria is ready to receive gas from the TurkStream pipeline since the beginning of 2020. This was stated by Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova.

According to her, it can lead to a reduction in prices for consumers by 5 %.

“The point of delivery of Russian natural gas to Bulgaria by agreement with the Russian side will be changed, it will be Strandzha 2 point, gas will come from Turkey… Receiving gas from Turkey will allow to achieve annual savings of about 70 million leva (about 35 million euros),” Petkova told reporters.

The head of Bulgargaz company Nikolay Pavlov said that the reasons for the transfer are “purely economic”. Bulgaria is ready to transport gas to Greece and North Macedonia.

At the same time, Petkova said that the construction of Balkan Stream in Bulgaria is going “as fast as possible, according to the schedule.”
