OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Bundestag Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy, a deputy from the political party the Left, Klaus Ernst, commenting on the country’s possible response to American sanctions against the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2.

On June 16 in an interview with the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, the politician called “to stop babbling in response” and throwing them with “cotton balls.” According to him, the introduction of duties on liquefied natural gas from the United States by the European Union’s authorities should become a response to US sanctions against the project. Ernst added that most Bundestag deputies support the completion of the construction of Nord Stream 2.

Earlier in June, German media reported about concern of Berlin authorities that new US sanctions against the construction of Nord Stream 2 would affect government agencies and companies associated with the project.
