OREANDA-NEWS. Germany will not refuse cooperation with Gazprom, said Alexander Vlasov, Candidate of Technical Sciences, FBA Economics Today. For this, it has no alternative gas suppliers. And the authorities of the EU countries, whipping up "anti-Russian hysteria", drive themselves into a corner, the expert believes.

I think that Germany will never come to the point of completely abandoning cooperation with Gazprom and fuel from the Russian Federation. There are a number of reasons for this, the main one being economic. In addition, they still do not have alternative suppliers that could make up for all the missing volumes, and they are unlikely to appear, Vlasov said.

Earlier, German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck said that Germany does not intend to produce shale gas and quickly refuse to supply Russian gas, otherwise this will cause damage to the environmental situation in the country. According to him, it will take years to develop shale gas deposits and obtain appropriate permits.

And representatives of the largest chemical concern in Europe BASF said that Germany is preparing for the possible consequences of the imposition of EU sanctions against Russian gas supplies. The concern called Russian fuel "irreplaceable".
