OREANDA-NEWS. The company Nord Stream 2 AG has completed the laying of the pipeline Nord Stream 2 in the German exclusive economic zone.

Company’s representative told RBC news agency that the pipe-laying work was carried out on a 2.6 kilometer section in German waters at a depth of less than 30 meters. 147 kilometers of pipes are to be laid in Danish waters.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak said that the construction of the gas pipeline is “in a high degree of readiness.” He noted that this is a commercial project, in which European partners are primarily interested. “I am sure that Nord Stream 2 will be completed, all the more so today, measures are being taken to complete it,” he said.

The Russian pipe-laying vessel Fortuna began the completion of the gas pipeline section in the German waters on December 11. Construction was suspended last year when the USA introduced sanctions against enterprises participating in the project. Because of this, the Swiss company Allseas withdrew its vessels from the construction zone.
