OREANDA-NEWS. Russian state-owned energy corporation Gazprom expects to launch the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline at the end of 2020. It follows from a presentation by the company, prepared for the enterprise’s Investor Day.

In December 2019, a key Nord Stream 2 subcontractor, the Swiss-Dutch company Allseas, suspended pipe laying under the Baltic Sea due to the sanctions imposed by Washington in the US defense budget. The document provides for restrictive measures against companies building gas pipeline.

On January 31, the German Ambassador to Russia announced that a launch of Nord Stream 2 should take place no later than the first quarter of 2021.

On January 28, it was reported that the building of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline would be completed by the Russian side.
