OREANDA-NEWS. For the first time, Gazprom has supplied a shipment of carbon neutral liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe. Writes about this "Interfax".

The cargo with "green" gas was delivered by the LNG Megrez tanker, it arrived at the Dragon terminal in Wales from Murmansk. Its recipient, Shell Global LNG, stressed that this is the first such delivery to Europe.

Shell has been supplying carbon neutral LNG since mid-2019, and recipients include Japan's Tokyo Gas, Korea's GS Energy, Taiwan's CPC and China's CNOOC.

On March 2, Sederic Kremers, the head of Shell in Russia, said that Russia overtook the United States in LNG supplies to Europe for the first time last year. Deliveries amounted to about 84 million tons, of which 22 million tons were in Russia and 20 million in the United States. It follows from Kramers' presentation that by 2040 the demand for LNG in Europe will grow, while the share of pipeline gas will decline.
