OREANDA-NEWS. Deputy of the Hamburg Landtag Olga Petersen (Alternative for Germany) told the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda about the increased pressure on the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 from the United States even before the situation with alleged poisoning of the oppositionist Aleksey Navalny.

She explained that this happened in early August. “Three American senators, led by Ted Cruz, wrote an official letter threatening the leadership of the German port of Mukran, which is used for the construction of the gas pipeline,” Petersen informed.

The parliamentarian believes that the refusal from the completing of the construction of Nord Stream 2, in which, according to her, Berlin is interested, will entail negative consequences for the German economy. Petersen recalled that many German and European companies are participating in the project. “The stoppage of Nord Stream 2 will immediately entail colossal losses for them, and in the medium term it may mean a rise in the price of fuel for Germany,” the deputy explained.
