OREANDA-NEWSThe Japanese oil and gas corporation Jogmec confirmed that on Wednesday it had negotiations with the head of Rosneft Igor Sechin, but refrained from commenting on their contents. This was announced on Thursday to the Russian media in a Japanese corporation.

The National Agency for Natural Resources and Energy under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, in response to a request from the Russian media, also confirmed the fact of negotiations with Rosneft, but no further details have been provided at the moment.

Earlier Wednesday, the Financial Times reported that a number of Japanese companies had expressed interest in acquiring stakes in the East Oil Arctic project of Rosneft. According to her, on Wednesday, Sechin held meetings in Tokyo with representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, the Japanese oil and gas state corporation Jogmec, as well as companies Inpex, Mitsubishi, Itochu, Mitsui & Co and Marubeni.
