Medvedev Signed a Decree to Stabilize the Fuel Market
OREANDA-NEWS Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a government resolution approving the agreement between the authorities and oil companies on stabilizing the situation on the fuel market and instructing the Ministry of energy and the Federal Antimonopoly service to implement it.
"I have just signed a resolution on the agreement between the Federal Executive authorities and economic entities. On the basis of this resolution, the Ministry of energy, together with the Antimonopoly service, is obliged to conclude an agreement with economic entities on taking measures to stabilize and develop the domestic market of petroleum products," Medvedev told reporters.
The Head of the Cabinet noted that a preliminary agreement between the authorities and oil companies already exists. "They agreed on my instructions, because the alternative was simple - either there will be an agreement, or there will be restrictive measures for export supplies," Medvedev said. He noted that the government decree specified a list of oil companies with which the agreement is concluded. "I will not list all of them, but here are the largest ones - Gazpromneft, LUKOIL, Rosneft, Surgutneftegas and others," the Prime Minister said.
He noted that the government will monitor the implementation of the agreement. "If I see that after all these agreements do not work, or in any case are eroded, it does not matter which company will do it, in the end it will still be seen at prices that will be formed by sellers, buyers, and most importantly - at gas stations, because ultimately it is this price that worries consumers. Then it will be necessary to make a decision about what I said: to sign a resolution on the introduction of prohibitive export duties. But I hope that it will not come to this and the agreement will be implemented properly," Medvedev said.
According to this information, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak and energy Minister Alexander Novak will have to monitor the implementation of this agreement.
