OREANDA-NEWS  The Ukrainian National Commission carrying out regulation in the sphere of energy and communal services of Ukraine (SCRAP), reduced from 1 January 2019, the tariff for transportation of natural gas through the national gas transmission system (GTS). This was reported on Friday by the Head of the regulator Oksana Krivenko.

"We are entering the new 2019 year with European competitive tariffs for gas transportation services for entry and exit points. They are cut in half, " she wrote on Facebook.

According to the Head of SCRAP, the new tariffs are a component of the final gas price to consumers is "actually a $6 reduced the price of imported natural gas on the wholesale market."

Krivenko said that as a result of the decision, the Ukrainian GTS "will confirm its competitiveness as an absolute and more cost-effective alternative to the "North stream" and other bypass gas pipelines."

According to the data presented on the website of the company "Ukrtransgaz", currently the tariff at the entry point to the GTS of Ukraine is $12.47 per 1 thousand cubic meters, and at the exit point ranges from 16.74 to $32.80 per 1 thousand cubic meters.

It should be noted that tariffs for gas transportation services for all cross – border entry points to the GTS are planned to be reduced by 2.1 times-from $12.47 to $6.04 per 1 thousand cubic meters per day (without VAT).

Tariffs for exit points will be reduced by 1.5-2.1 times.

NKREKU also intends to reduce the tariffs of UTG at the point of entry into the GTS for mining enterprises by 3.3 times – from 296.8 UAH to 89.02 UAH per 1 thousand cubic meters per day (without VAT).

The project will be approved after public discussions in December.

Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian gas transportation system is estimated at about 14 billion dollars.
