OREANDA-NEWS. The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline certifier, the Norwegian company Det Norske Veritas – Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL), left the project due to fears of sanctions which could be imposed by the United States. This was announced by a company representative.

This decision was taken by the Nowegian enterprise after Washington expanded its interpretation of the sanctions against Nord Stream 2. Now, not only companies that are directly involved in the construction of the gas pipeline, but also those who provide various services to the vessels involved in the construction, may fall under the restrictions.

“Accordingly, we believe that DNV GL’s inspection activities of equipped vessels serving the Nord Stream 2 project are subject to sanctions. Therefore DNV GL has stopped providing services that may fall under the PEESA [Protecting Europe’s Energy Security Act. – Ed.],” company’s representative explained.
