OREANDA-NEWS Novatek Gas and Power Asia Pte. Ltd (daughter of NOVATEK) supplied Brazil the first batch of liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced at the Yamal LNG plant. This is stated in the message NOVATEK.

The shipment was delivered to Petrobras at the Bahia regasification terminal. "We delivered LNG of our own production to the Latin American market for the first time, and this is a confirmation of the effectiveness of our logistics model and the unique geographical location of the Yamal LNG project," the words of NOVATEK's Chairman of the Board Leonid Mikhelson are quoted in the message.

The marketing strategy of the company provides for the expansion of the geography of supplies and diversification of consumers. Michelson also noted that the unique geographical location of the Yamal LNG project makes LNG supplies competitive almost anywhere in the world.

Earlier in September, President Vladimir Putin reported on Russia's plans to supply LNG to Vietnam. In December 2017, it became known about the intention of NOVATEK to supply LNG to Vietnam together with the French Total and the German Siemens Aktiengesellschaft. At the end of July 2018, the company delivered the first cargo of LNG to China.

NOVATEK is one of the largest independent natural gas producers in Russia. In 2017, the company entered the international gas market thanks to the launch of the Yamal LNG project (50.1% for NOVATEK, 20% for French Total and Chinese CNPC, 9.9% for the Silk Road Fund). The project is implemented on the basis of the South Tambeyskoye field on the Yamal Peninsula and involves the launch of three technological stages for the production of LNG with a capacity of about 5.5 million tons per year each.

As Michelson noted, the total share of the two lines of the Yamal LNG plant is about 3.5% of the global LNG market. The company's plan to produce 55-60 million tons of LNG per year, the third line will be launched in early 2019.
