OREANDA-NEWS. The permission of the Danish authorities for the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline is based on a thorough analysis of the environmental impact. This was reminded of this on Friday at Nord Stream 2 AG, commenting, at the request of the Russian media, the intention expressed in Ukraine to file an appeal with the court about this permission for environmental reasons.

“We aren't speculating about potential appeals”, said Jens Müller, spokesman for Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the gas pipeline project. He emphasized, however, that “the decision of the Danish Energy Agency to provide a building permit is based on a thorough environmental impact assessment. Wednesday, as well as on statements by the Danish expert authorities and extensive consultations both nationally and internationally".

According to media reports, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Oleksiy Orzhel said earlier in an interview with the Ukrainian television channel that he is exploring the possibility of appealing the decision of Denmark and that the environmental aspect could be used.
