OREANDA-NEWS. The Polish government can offer Germany its infrastructure for gas transportation if Berlin refuses to use the pipeline Nord Stream 2. This was announced on September 9 by the press secretary of the government of Poland, Piotr Muller.

“Now we need to consider different options in terms of energy security. From the very beginning, Poland has emphasized that European solidarity in this area should be unambiguous,” the politician said, answering the question of whether Poland will be able to offer Germany to use the gas pipeline Baltic Pipe (a project that is supposed to connect fields on the Norwegian shelf in the North Sea with Poland via Denmark) instead of Nord Stream 2. “Therefore, if such needs from the German side are declared, Poland is open to use the infrastructure that it is building for its own energy security. Because we approach energy security in solidarity, we believe that it needs to be built with a pan-European approach,” Muller explained.

He also noted that “initiatives such as Nord Stream 2 contradict the idea of solidarity and energy security.”
