OREANDA-NEWS. The administration of US President Joe Biden called on the Ukrainian authorities to refrain from expressing their position during the negotiations between Washington and Berlin on Nord Stream 2. This is reported by Politico, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, American officials warned Kiev that public criticism of the FRG-United States agreement on the Russian gas pipeline could harm relations between the United States and Ukraine. Also, representatives of the White House called on the Ukrainian authorities not to discuss the potential plans of Berlin and Washington with the American Congress, the newspaper writes.

A senior interlocutor from the Biden administration disputed the data, noting that the situation is actually more complicated, but declined to share details of the talks between US officials and their Ukrainian counterparts.

The day before, the media reported that an agreement had been reached between the United States and Germany on a gas pipeline project. The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, wrote that the agreement could be announced as early as Wednesday.

As for Russia, it has repeatedly called for an end to mentioning Nord Stream 2 in the context of any politicization, since it is a commercial project beneficial to both Russia and the EU.

Pipeline operator Nord Stream 2 AG said it expects to complete pipe-laying work by the end of next month.
