OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, expressed confidence that Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline would be completed in spite of US sanctions.

The head of government noted that “there is very little time left” until the completion of the project. Medvedev stressed that the US authorities also understand that Russia will build the pipeline, despite restrictive measures.

According to the prime minister, Gazprom company has alternatives for further construction. “Well, a little bit more time will be spent on it, it’s okay. We are saying just about several months – a month more or a month less,” Medvedev resumed.

The politician also emphasized that there is “no catastrophe” in this, especially against the background of transit agreements reached in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump signed a defense budget a few days ago, which imposed sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 and Turk Stream gas pipelines. Washington demanded pipe-laying companies to stop construction immediately. Allseas company has already suspended operations.
