OREANDA-NEWS. Successful development of oil and gas fields on the Russian shelf is hampered by the lack of domestic technologies in this area, said Evgeny Petrov, head of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra), in an interview with Interfax. According to him, in the current conditions, many deposits remain nothing more than a resource base.

There are many good deposits in the Barents and Kara Seas, but in the absence of technology they remain just a resource base. However, it is very important for the state to look to the future, to continue developing the shelf, to develop technologies for exploration and production on the shelf of the Arctic seas,” Petrov said.

On the eve of the head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, said at a meeting on budget policy that the revenues of the Russian budget have grown significantly since the beginning of the year. According to him, this was mainly due to a sharp increase in oil and gas revenues. This made it possible to increase the reserve fund by almost one and a half trillion rubles.

Meanwhile, several EU member states have proposed to postpone the embargo on Russian oil because of the resistance of Hungary. Thus, Europe will be able to introduce the remaining restrictions from the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions, but some diplomats are concerned that the decision to temporarily postpone the embargo could be perceived as weakness.
