OREANDA-NEWS. Russian state-owned company Gazprom began dismantling a cross-border pipeline designed to supply gas to the territory of Ukraine and transit to Western Europe.

This was reported by a head of the Gas Transportation System Operator of Ukraine, Sergey Makogon. “In fact, they want to destroy even the theoretical possibility of gas transit through Ukraine in the future,” he said. According to Makogon, the actions of the Russian side create problems, and if Gazprom is able to complete the construction of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 in the Baltic Sea, Ukrainians will completely lose revenue from the transit of Russian fuel to European countries. He also added that Ukraine is not in a position to influence the situation.

When the demolition of the border pipeline is completed, the domestic pipeline system will be used only for domestic supplies and imports, Makogon said.
