OREANDA-NEWS. Alexander Novak, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, said that one of the possible options for completing the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline may be the pipe layer Akademik Chersky owned by Gazprom company.

“By the end of 2020, Nord Stream 2 will be launched,” Novak said. “One option is a ship that is now located in the Far East, but it will take some time for additional preparations,” the politician added.

According to the Marinetraffic service, the Akademik Chersky vessel, which has been in the operational management of Gazprom Flot LLC since 2016, is currently located in the port of Nakhodka (Primorsky Krai).

A day earlier, Novak declared that the completion of the gas pipeline could be carried out in a few months, even without the participation of foreign contractors.
