OREANDA-NEWSGazprom and China agreed on the solemn launch date of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, through which Russian gas supplies to China will begin on December 2, a source familiar with the company's plans told the Russian media.

The head of Gazprom Alexei Miller said earlier that the construction of the project is ahead of schedule, so deliveries to China through the northern section of Heihe-Chanlin will begin ahead of schedule - from December 1, 2019. Initially, the launch of the pipeline was planned for December 20.

Through the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, gas from East Siberian fields (Chayandinsky in Yakutia and Kovyktinsky in the Irkutsk Region) will be transported both to the domestic Russian market and for export to China. On October 29, Gazprom announced that it had completed the process of filling the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. Gas from the Chayandinskoye field was brought to the border gas metering station near the city of Blagoveshchensk. Thus, the linear part of the gas pipeline was prepared for the start of pipeline deliveries to China.
